BAS for cleaning businesses, without the Sunday-night spreadsheet
Running a cleaning, pressure-washing or house-washing business means dozens of small jobs a week, fuel on the card every second day, chemicals and gear from three different suppliers, the odd subbie to pay, and invoices that still have not been paid. Then every three months the BAS comes around and the whole lot has to be sorted. FlowFi does the sorting for you, from the bank statement you already have.
What FlowFi does for cleaners
Categorises fuel, chemicals and equipment automatically
Servo stops, Bunnings runs, chemical suppliers and that new pressure washer all land in the right expense category without you touching them.
Flags GST on supplies
FlowFi works out which purchases carry GST you can claim back, so your G11 figure is not a guess.
Tracks mileage between jobs
Log the drive from one client to the next and FlowFi applies the current ATO cents-per-kilometre rate to your deductions.
Invoices clients in under a minute, then chases the late ones
Send a clean tax invoice from your phone straight after the job, with a link the client pays from by bank transfer or PayID. Switch on automatic reminders and FlowFi emails the strata manager, agent or homeowner who pays late at 1, 7 and 14 days overdue, so you are not the one chasing.
Builds your quarterly BAS from your bank statement
Upload the quarter, review the figures FlowFi has pre-filled for G1 to G11 on the copy-ready labels card, and lodge through ATO Online or hand the pack to your accountant. A BAS reminder email with your labels already filled in lands before the due date.
How it works
Upload your bank statement
Export a CSV or PDF from your bank app (CBA, Westpac, NAB, ANZ and most others are supported) and drop it into FlowFi. No bank login needed.
AI sorts every transaction
Fuel, chemicals, equipment, subcontractor payments, insurance and client income are categorised, GST is calculated and deductions are flagged.
Review and lodge your BAS
Check the pre-filled figures on the copy-ready labels card, copy them into ATO Online through myGov or send the pack to your accountant. FlowFi emails you a reminder with the labels filled in before the due date. Done before the footy starts.

Common cleaner deductions
Expenses cleaning businesses often claim. FlowFi flags these categories as they appear in your statement.
- Cleaning chemicals, consumables and cloths
- Equipment such as vacuums, pressure washers, mops and ladders (and depreciation on the bigger items)
- Vehicle running costs or cents-per-kilometre for travel between jobs
- Fuel for petrol-powered pressure washers and generators
- Public liability and equipment insurance
- Protective clothing, gloves, safety boots and branded uniforms
- Subcontractor payments (with the right records kept)
- Phone, job-booking apps, software and a share of your home office
This is general information, not tax advice. What you can claim depends on your situation; check with your accountant or the ATO.
Questions cleaners ask us
I do a lot of small cash and card jobs. Does FlowFi cope with that?
Yes. Everything that hits your bank account is picked up from the statement you upload. For cash jobs, add the income manually or bank it and it flows through like any other deposit. There is no transaction cap on Pro, so a busy week of small jobs is no problem.
I pay a couple of subbies. How does FlowFi treat those payments?
Subcontractor payments are categorised as an expense and flagged so you can see them separately at BAS time. Keep the subbie’s invoice or ABN details; FlowFi holds the transaction record and you can attach the receipt.
Do I need to be registered for GST?
Only if your turnover is $75,000 or more a year, or you choose to register earlier. FlowFi still categorises expenses and tracks income for cleaners under the threshold, and the BAS figures are ready the day you do register.
Can I keep using my accountant?
Yes, and most cleaners do. FlowFi does the sorting through the quarter and exports a tax pack in PDF, CSV, MYOB or Xero format. Your accountant gets clean books instead of a shoebox, which usually means a smaller bill.
