BAS due dates with a countdown

Quarterly BAS due dates for Australian sole traders and small businesses, for the current financial year and the next. The standard dates are 28 October, 28 February, 28 April and 28 July. This page rolls weekend dates forward, shows the registered agent dates, counts down to your next BAS in Sydney time, and gives you a calendar file so the reminders live in your phone.

Weekends and public holidays. When a due date lands on a Saturday, Sunday or public holiday, the ATO moves it to the next business day. This page rolls weekends forward automatically but does not know about public holidays, so check the ATO if the 28th is near one.

Agent concessions. If a registered tax or BAS agent lodges for you, quarters 1, 3 and 4 usually get about four extra weeks (25 November, 26 May and 25 August). Quarter 2 already has an extra month built in for everyone, so its agent date stays 28 February.

Lodging online yourself. The ATO may give you an extra two weeks on quarters 1, 3 and 4 if you lodge through ATO Online. Your exact date is shown in ATO Online services, and that date wins over anything here. Monthly BAS lodgers are due on the 21st of the following month.

How it works

  • A quarterly BAS covers three months and is due 28 days after the quarter ends, except the October to December quarter, which gets until 28 February because of the holiday period.
  • When the 28th falls on a weekend or public holiday, the ATO moves the due date to the next business day. Lodging through a registered tax or BAS agent usually adds about four weeks to quarters 1, 3 and 4.
  • Download the .ics file to add all four dates to Apple Calendar, Google Calendar or Outlook, each with reminders 7 days and 1 day before. Nothing is uploaded; the file is built in your browser.
