BAS and bookkeeping for hairdressers and beauty therapists, without the Sunday-night spreadsheet
Renting a chair or running a mobile beauty business means a weekly chair fee or a percentage to the salon, product orders from a wholesaler, new scissors or a lash kit, a booking app that takes its cut, and a stream of small client payments through a terminal or bank transfer, with a few cash tips and cash jobs in between.
FlowFi reads the statement, sorts rent from products from tools, records client payments and the app fees, flags GST where it applies, and builds the quarterly BAS. You review it and copy the labels into ATO Online.

What FlowFi does for hairdressers and beauty therapists
Sorts chair rent, products and tools
Salon fees, wholesaler orders and equipment land in the right categories without you touching them.
Flags GST on rent, stock and booking fees
FlowFi checks which purchases and fees carry GST you can claim.
Handles terminal payouts and cash
Daily card payouts are recognised as income and cash jobs are added with a tap.
Invoices for weddings and group bookings
Send a deposit invoice for a bridal party or event and let reminders handle the balance.
Builds the BAS from your statement
Upload the quarter, review the pre-filled figures and copy them into ATO Online.
How it works
Upload your bank statement
Export a CSV or PDF from your bank (CBA, Westpac, NAB, ANZ, Macquarie and most others) and drop it into FlowFi. No bank login, ever.
AI sorts every transaction
Income, expenses, equipment and transfers are categorised, GST is worked out on each line and likely deductions are flagged for you to confirm.
Review and lodge your BAS
Check the pre-filled labels, copy them into ATO Online in about five minutes, or export the pack for your accountant. FlowFi does not lodge for you.

Questions hairdressers and beauty therapists ask
Is chair rent deductible?
Yes. Rent or a percentage you pay the salon owner to operate from their premises is a business expense, and if they are registered for GST it will usually carry GST you can claim. Keep the agreement and their tax invoices.
Products I sell to clients: how are they treated?
Retail product you buy is stock. The sale is income with GST if you are registered, and the purchase is an expense with GST claimable. FlowFi records both sides so your BAS matches your product sales.
What about cash tips?
Tips are income and need to be declared. Add them in FlowFi as cash income when you bank them or at the end of each week.
Do I need to register for GST?
Only once your GST turnover reaches $75,000 a year, or if you choose to. A busy chair renter can cross that line, so FlowFi keeps a running total so you know when it is time.
