Bank export guide

How to export an ANZ bank statement as CSV for your BAS

ANZ has two experiences. Classic ANZ Internet Banking has a Download option on the transaction list with CSV among the formats. ANZ Plus, the newer app-first accounts, exports from the account settings. The standard ANZ app gives you PDF statements.

Steps checked 17 September 2026. Menu names change; if the label differs, look for Export, Download or Statements.

In ANZ Internet Banking (browser)

  1. 1Log in to ANZ Internet Banking and open the account.
  2. 2Go to Transactions and look for the Download or Export option on the transaction list (older screens call it Download transactions).
  3. 3Choose the date range and CSV as the format.
  4. 4Download the file.

In the ANZ app and ANZ Plus

  1. 1In ANZ Plus, open the account, go to the transactions view and look for the export option in the account settings or the transactions menu. Choose CSV and the date range.
  2. 2In the standard ANZ app, statements are available as PDF under Statements; for a CSV use Internet Banking in a browser.
  3. 3Save or share the file to somewhere you can upload it from.

Which format to pick

Choose CSV when it is offered. ANZ also provides OFX, QIF and PDF statements; the PDF statements are fine for FlowFi, while OFX and QIF are for other accounting packages and are not needed.

Which dates to pick

Export the whole BAS quarter in one file (1 July to 30 September, 1 October to 31 December, 1 January to 31 March, or 1 April to 30 June) so nothing falls between two exports. For a first upload, start from 1 July so your year-to-date figures are complete. Not sure which quarter you are in? See the BAS due dates.

After you export

Open the file once and check it has a date, a description and an amount for every line, and that it covers the whole period. Then upload it to FlowFi and your quarter is categorised in two minutes: every transaction gets a category and a confidence score, you review only the uncertain ones, GST is flagged per line, likely deductions are marked, and the BAS labels are prepared for you to copy into ATO Online.

No bank login, no bank feed and no access to your money. The file is the only thing that leaves your bank, and it is stored in Sydney.

Got the file? Upload it and see the quarter sorted

Then upload it to FlowFi and your quarter is categorised in two minutes, with GST flagged and every BAS label ready to copy.

Frequently asked questions

Is exporting a ANZ statement safer than connecting a bank feed?

It avoids sharing your ANZ login or granting ongoing access to the account. FlowFi never asks for bank credentials and never touches your money; you export the file yourself and upload it. The trade-off is a minute or two per account each month or quarter.

What if ANZ only gives me a PDF statement?

Upload the PDF. FlowFi reads the transaction table out of PDF statements. CSV is preferred because every line is a clean row, but a monthly PDF statement works, and you can upload all three months of a quarter together.

How far back should I export?

For a first upload, go back to 1 July so your year-to-date income, GST and deductions are complete. After that, export each quarter as it ends, or each month if you like to keep on top of it.
