Bank export guide

How to export an Up bank statement as CSV for your BAS

Up is app only, so everything happens on your phone. Data export produces a CSV for any date range you choose and Statements produces monthly PDFs; both are emailed to you or saved to the phone, and you upload to FlowFi from there.

Up has no desktop internet banking, so there is no browser fallback; if you cannot find the export, update the app and search its help for Data export.

Steps checked 17 September 2026. Menu names change; if the label differs, look for Export, Download or Statements.

In the Up app

  1. 1Open the Up app and go to the account.
  2. 2Open the account settings (the gear or the account name at the top) and look for Data export or Statements.
  3. 3Data export gives you a CSV for a date range you choose; Statements gives monthly PDFs.
  4. 4The file is emailed to you or saved to your phone. Upload it to FlowFi from there, or forward the email to yourself and upload from a computer.

Which format to pick

Choose CSV when it is offered. Up also provides PDF statements, which FlowFi reads as well, so a monthly PDF is a fine fallback.

Which dates to pick

Set the export range to the whole BAS quarter so you upload one file, not three monthly statements. For a first upload, start from 1 July so the year-to-date figures are complete. Not sure which quarter you are in? See the BAS due dates.

After you export

Open the file once and check it has a date, a description and an amount for every line, and that it covers the whole period. Then upload it to FlowFi and your quarter is categorised in two minutes: every transaction gets a category and a confidence score, you review only the uncertain ones, GST is flagged per line, likely deductions are marked, and the BAS labels are prepared for you to copy into ATO Online.

No bank login, no bank feed and no access to your money. The file is the only thing that leaves your bank, and it is stored in Sydney.

Got the file? Upload it and see the quarter sorted

Then upload it to FlowFi and your quarter is categorised in two minutes, with GST flagged and every BAS label ready to copy.

Frequently asked questions

Is exporting a Up statement safer than connecting a bank feed?

It avoids sharing your Up login or granting ongoing access to the account. FlowFi never asks for bank credentials and never touches your money; you export the file yourself and upload it. The trade-off is a minute or two per account each month or quarter.

What if Up only gives me a PDF statement?

Upload the PDF. FlowFi reads the transaction table out of PDF statements. CSV is preferred because every line is a clean row, but a monthly PDF statement works, and you can upload all three months of a quarter together.

How far back should I export?

For a first upload, go back to 1 July so your year-to-date income, GST and deductions are complete. After that, export each quarter as it ends, or each month if you like to keep on top of it.
